High quality gluten-free, lactose-free and even vegan Dutch pancakes
At PANCAKES Amsterdam, we do our best to always have the best quality possible in the products we get. We are always looking for products without any artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. If possible, we try to use free range products and fair-trade ingredients, from local farmers. We will never be satisfied with less. Our place is the place to be to eat traditional Dutch pancakes with a modern twist. We also serve delicious American pancakes and traditional Dutch poffertjes.
We are proud to serve gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan pancakes. The preparation time for these pancakes may be a little longer, but we can guarantee they have the exact same taste. Our chefs do their very best to make sure all of our ingredients are allergy free, but we cannot completely exclude the risk of cross-contamination. If you have any questions, our staff will always answer these with love. If you order a gluten-free, lactose-free or vegan pancake, you will recognise the pancake by the coloured chip placed on top. It is an easy way to see if any adjustments have been made to the pancakes and for you, as a guest, to know if the right pancake has been served.
Lately, we have experienced a growing trend in the demand for gluten-free pancakes. But what are gluten exactly? Gluten is a group of proteins, that provides structure to a product made of wheat, rye, barley or oats. It is often added to pancakes as a product enhancer, but for some people with celiac disease, this causes hypersensitivity reactions (gluten intolerance). Therefore, we have decided to stay on the lookout for new ways of preparing our pancakes, so we can provide pancakes to everyone. These special pancakes are made with the finest quality gluten-free flour.
Lactose intolerance means that your body is not able to process lactose. This happens because of a certain sugar in milk and other dairy products. A lactose free diet means that you are only able to eat products without any lactose. Lactose intolerance is caused by an enzyme called lactase, you can find this enzyme in your small intestine. Our lactose-free pancakes are made with soya milk and are gluten-free. Do you want to know more about our lactose free traditional pancakes? Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose (source: vegansociety.com). A good example for products that are made of animals are meat, eggs, dairy products or gelatine. Embracing veganism does not only mean not using animal products in your diet, but also in your clothes or makeup for example. Do you want to know more about our vegan Dutch pancakes?
