Koningsdag in Amsterdam
Are you celebrating King’s Day in Amsterdam? Congratulations this is one of the absolute best days to spend time in Amsterdam!! Why? Just read this blog to find out!
King’s Day the day to celebrate the birthday of our King Willem Alexander. Yes we Dutchies have a kingdom and just so you know, an awesome Kingdom aswell with King Willem Alexander, his beautiful wife Queen Maxima and their three daughters; Amalia, Alexia and Ariana. We Dutch are quite proud about their Kingdom.
King’s Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. But it wasn’t always King’s Day, April 30 of 2013 our Queen Beatrix stept down from the throne and her sun took the job. So since 2014 we are celebrating ‘Koningsdag’. Before ‘Koningsdag’ we had ‘Koninginnendag’ and before that we celebrated ‘Princessendag’. Since 1885 there is one day a year to celebrate our Kingdom with a lot of orange. Our National colour, besides red, white and blue.
The Netherlands is turning orange and we are all celebrating the birthday of our king. Our King will receive a special birthday in one of the cities in the Netherlands that will organize this special day. Every year a different city. But on this day our King is only one of us and he will connect with the population. In every city and village in The Netherlands we will celebrate the birthday of King Willem Alexander.

Amsterdam will be completely ORANGE! Everywhere you look, you will see people, buildings, streets and orange food! We love orange tompouzen on this festive day! The canals of Amsterdam will be filled with boats with celebrating, dancing and drinking people, all in a fabulous mode. The streets will be filled with people selling and buying their shit on the flea markets. Everyone is happy, party is all around and on this day being together is the central message!
